What Happens As We Age?
The ageing process changes the main structures of the face, including skin, fat, muscles and bone structure. Skin becomes thinner, losing it’s plumpness and firmness.
Skin becomes slack with a loss of the elastic tissue (elastin) in the skin and over time this causes the skin to hang loosely, lines and wrinkles appear.
Loss of fat below the skin in the cheeks, temples. Chin, nose and eye area can also result in loosening of the skin and drooping of the face.

How does it work?
SpringThread® cosmetic thread is a patented, next-generation cosmetic solution.
SpringThread® is a composite implant, such a human body tissues (elastin fibres and collagen helix). It consists of a silicone matrix that provides elasticity and flexibility and a polyester helix core which provides resistance and control of the elasticity.
Polyester and silicone are inert materials, perfectly biocompatible, used for over 50 years for medical implants.
The silicone is moulded into cogs which point in four directions. This allows for the thread to be precisely positioned and provides strong anchorage on the tissue.
Quickly and easily implanted beneath the skin surface, SpringThread® lifts and shapes tissue to restore youthful definition and accelerate the production of new collagen, rejuvenating the skin with natural looking results.
What areas can be treated?
SpringThreads® are commonly used in a variety of areas on the face including:
- Cheeks
- Jowls

SpringThreads® can also be used on areas of the body, including:

Is there any downtime?
The downtime with SpringThreads® is typically minimal. However, you may wish to spend a couple of days at home after your treatment as there may be some bruising, tenderness and swelling. This is normal and should resolved within a few days.
Your practitioner will discuss aftercare advice with you to ensure the best possible results.
Is it safe?
SpringThreads® are considered a safe treatment when performed by a qualified and experienced practitioner.
Made from medical grade polyester and silicone which are perfectly biocompatible materials that have been used in implants for over 50 years. It is strong, stable and inert.
SpringThreads® are minimally invasive and can be a safer and preferred option to surgical facelifts.
Is it painful?
No. The SpringThreads® procedure is performed under local anaesthetic making it pain free. Your practitioner may also administer a light sedation to help you feel more comfortable.
Following the procedure, you may feel some discomfort from the swelling, bruising or tenderness. Your practitioner will advise you on any recommended pain relief.
Am I a good candidate?
Most people are suitable to have SpringThreads® if they wish to improve the appearance of ageing skin that has lost volume, elasticity and fat.
The treatment is suitable for both men and women aged 35-70+.
However, there are some factors that may make the treatment unsuitable for certain individuals. Those factors include:
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Infectious conditions
- Skin with an active allergy
- Acne or prescribed Roaccutane
- Prescribed anti-coagulant medication
- Recent Cancer
- Insulin dependant diabetic
- History of stroke or blood clots.
Your practitioner will discuss your concerns and medical history with you at your consultation.
Alternative treatments
There are several alternative treatments that can help address skin laxity, volume loss and ageing skin. These may include:
